Sit, Sip, & Pray With the Most Nourishing Bone Broth

Photograph of Lauren Pappas creator of Thank You Thank You Thank You ceremonial grade bone broth.

When my daughter was 18 months old, one night we gathered up as a family to eat dinner. We flopped into our spots, and began diving into our food before our bodies had even landed in our chairs. “Wait, STOP!” she shouted in her tiny, disproportionately assured voice, “We didn’t say Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Naya reached her hands out to each side. Semi entranced, we followed suit, linking hands, as if she was conducting us like marionettes, relieved to no longer be in charge. She started swinging her hands back and forth – we followed, a chain of limbs and hearts in unison. “Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.” Naya announced, syncing with each thrust. She dropped our hands and looked around the table, locking eyes with each of us, one at a time, “NOW we can eat!”

And just like that, a new ritual – and mantra for our literal and metaphorical family table – was born.

At the time of that first “Thank you, Thank you, Thank you,” I thought “dang, that was cute!” And had no idea a tradition had been born. But, it was such a welcome turn from the familiar harried pace and postures mealtime often had for our familiar - it was a pause, a slowing down, a going within. It was simple, authentic, and felt good.

It became one of the prayer wheels that connects and grounds us, a daily rhythm and touch stone we know we will ALWAYS return to. A living breathing tapestry that we stitch each time we sit down to eat.

And so, I invoke Thank you, Thank you, Thank you as the Ceremonial Name of my and homemade and nourishing Bone Broth in honor of these sacred rhythms; the natural and ethereal – like the lunar cycle moon, and the reverent presence we can choose to cultivate – like a nightly prayer. When the cosmic and human will are in reciprocity, a limitless, cocreative, regenerative potential emerges.

And so, the TYTYTY Ritual was Born

Just like that, the seed of that good feeling, watered and nurtured by its simple accessibility, grew to be a foundation of family gathering time. As Naya grew up, she began to name things she was thankful for. “Thank you for playdough” or “thank you to Auntie for being here with us,” or “thank you to mommy for making this food.” Guided by the authenticity only a toddler can possess, it felt pure and right to join in, “Thank you for our lives. Thank you for this love.” It was as if the simple words “Thank you, Thank you, Thank you” and our linked arms became an overflowing cornucopia for all that we had to be thankful for.

An Integrative Practice For the Ceremony of Life

Don’t get me wrong, we don’t do an elaborate “Thank you, Thank you, Thank you” at every meal – sometimes it’s just a quickie version. But I have noticed, since “Thank you, Thank you, Thank you” (hence dubbed, “TYTYTY”) has made its way into my family meals, I more often slow down when I’m eating by myself or with other people. More often, I can immerse myself in the delicious magic of a meal. More often, my mind, body and spirit are present and available to not only be fed, but to be nourished.

To this day, I don’t know where Naya’s inspiration for the first “Thank you, Thank you, Thank you” came from - did she learn it at daycare? Receive inspiration through ancestors’ whispers or a past life remembrance? Whatever the “source”, I can be certain it was divinely guided to ripple beyond our family table.

Maybe you’re reading this and saying aloud, “Hey! We say Thank you, Thank you, Thank you at our house too!” And so, if you are one of those guiding influences, through direct contact or indirect osmosis through the field we all share, who helped my family return to the simple practice of prayer and gratitude, I say to you: Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

The TYTYTY Prayer

Across times an lineages, a rose quarts rises from an ancient spell book

Where you’d expect a cloud of dust, a rainbow cloud scented rose and violets rises.

... and the book whispers:

Join hands, unite your hearts. Two words, three times, one simple truth.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

We join hearts and voices.

Across generations, lineages and all of our relations,

we courageously open our entire being

to the magnificence that is here.

and all that we are.

Present, loved, nourished and free.

“NOW we can eat.” responded Naya
